R&B seeks input on residential building codes

At the Sept. 18 Grimes County commissioners court workshop, County Engineer Jon Steiber presented his proposed timeline toward a vote on adoption of International Residential Code (IRC) 2021. Steiber said a 22-person development review committee comprised of builders, developers, lawyers and realtors nominated by commissioners, met recently and favored adoption; however, one member preferred to focus on national codes. Steiber said that Grimes County is authorized to adopt the IRC only.
