Barnard dance faculty Kelly Peters on passing down hip-hop’s legacy

Before TikTok dances, online classes and Youtube tutorials, there was Kelly Peters. Moving from basements to his own studio, he built his identity as hip-hop transitioned from an underground subculture to a mainstream phenomenon. Today, Peters is preserving the authenticity of an art form he grew up alongside, teaching this generation to be grounded in hip-hop’s roots.
